Community Resources for Soldiers
There are many resources available to National Guard Soldiers and their Family Members to assist with readjustment following a deployment. These resources include TRICARE Healthcare Providers, local Military Treatment Facilities, the Guard Family Program, Military One Source and Military Family Life Consultants. They are all available at no personal cost to Soldiers and their Families.
TRICARE Heathcare Providers
If you require a referral through the PDHRA program, you may be referred to a TRICARE provider at no cost to you. This is separate from the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) benefit you have for 180-days after you are released from active duty. If you use your TAMP benefit, you will be charged a co-payment for each appointment. A PDHRA referral to a TRICARE provider will not result in any co-payment due.
Military Treatment Facilities
If you require a referral through the PDHRA program, you may be referred to a Military Treatment Facility at no cost to you. As a combat Veteran with a PDHRA referral, you are entitled to the same priority of care as any active duty Soldier.

Military Family Life Consultants
Military Family Life Consultants (MFLC) provides reunion and reintegration support to Soldiers and their Families in a variety of formats to reduce Family stress. The goal is to prevent Family distress by providing education and information on Family dynamics, parent education, available support services, and the effects of stress and positive coping mechanisms. The MFLC works with the Army National Guard for state coverage. Interaction between consultants and Soldiers and Families is private unless the consultant believes there may be a mental health issue, or information reveals spouse, child or elder abuse, or there is a threat of self-harm or harm to others. These cases are referred to the appropriate agencies IAW AR 608-18 and local policies and protocols. Consultants also liaison with community agencies and follow their prescribed duty to warn procedures. MFLC consultants hold a Master’s degree and at least five years of experience in Social Work, Counseling or a related clinical discipline. Consultants are trained on military-specific topics including a basic orientation to the deployment cycle, military culture, the chain of command, and reporting requirements in accordance with Army regulations. Consultants work directly with the Family Program Office to assist units, Rear Detachment Commanders, Soldiers and their families during the pre-deployment and post-deployment phases of the Deployment Cycle Support Program. To request an MFLC just notify your State Family Program Director who can be located at Guard Family Program.
