Information for Commanders

We recognize that taking care of Soldiers is a commander’s number one priority. The Army has learned over the past few years that deployment health concerns may not be noticed immediately after deployment, when Soldiers complete the Post Deployment Health Assessment (PDHA). Furthermore, we recognize that your Soldiers were focused on going home and may have been reluctant to report their concerns at demobilization. Finally, readjustment issues may not emerge until a Soldier re-enters their work and Family life. To ensure your Soldiers are receiving the best care possible post-deployment, we encourage commanders to comply with Department of Defense policy and support and participate in the PDHRA process.

My unit has an event coming up. What do I need to know to be prepared?
The essential need-to-know information prior to a PDHRA event is contained in this Overview of the PDHRA Process. It contains a snapshot of the PDHRA program, helpful tip sheets, and a sample commander’s briefing.

Who can I contact for more information?
