The AL National Guard Education Assistance Program pays tuition, educational fees and books/supplies for AL National Guard-members attending a
public postsecondary educational institution in AL. Awards are limited to $500 per term and no more
than $1,000 per fiscal year.

Alaska National Guard State Tuition Assistance
Univ of AK Tuition Scholarship Program pays up to 100% for all courses taken within the Univ of AK system.
The AK Tuition Reimbursement Program pays up to 100% of all tuition and fees up to a max of $1,000 per state fiscal year. The reimbursement program
pays for tuition/certifications at universities/trade schools other than the Univ of AK.

Arizona National Guard State Education Priority Reimbursement
The State Education Priority Reimbursement equals the amount expended for tuition and fees related
to the class, not to exceed $250 per semester hour with an annual cap of $6,500 per state fiscal
year (July 1 - June 30). Must complete basic and AIT to be eligible. Certain restrictions apply.

Arkansas National Guard Tuition Assistance Program (GTIP)
The Guard Tuition Incentive Program (GTIP) provides tuition assistance and fees for soldiers
attending AR public and private colleges and universities. $1,000 per semester for full-time
student; prorated for less than full-time. May receive up to eight semesters. Eligibility for
these benefits is based on funding availability. Must complete basic training to be eligible.

District of Columbia National Guard Scholarship
The State Tuition Program provides up to $1,500 per fiscal year. DC residents only.
PLEASE NOTE: Funding is currently available for Air Guard ONLY. Unused funds may be

Florida National Guard Educational Assistance Programs
Educational Dollars for Duty pays up to 100% of tuition and approved fees. State Tuition
Exemption Program provides 50% waiver of tuition and approved fees. Both programs are for
undergraduate work at state supported schools or votech at community colleges. Member
incurs a three year obligation from degree or date of last use. NGAFL offers annual
scholarships to family and members.

Georgia National Guard Service Cancelable Loan Fund
The National Guard Service Cancelable Loan Fund may provide up to $1,280 per quarter; $1,819 dollars per semester. Soldiers with a baccalaureate degree are not eligible for this program. Must be a legal resident of GA and be a member in good standing of the GA NG. Must maintain a grade of "C" average or better. The HERO Scholarship provides educational scholarship assistance to members of the GA NG and U.S. Military Reservists who served in combat zones or the children of such members. Recipients may receive up to $2,000 per academic school year for each qualifying term of service of 181 consecutive days, for a maximum of $8,000 for the equivalent of four years of study. Award amounts are prorated for school terms in which the recipients are enrolled for less than full-time (12 hours). North Georgia College & State University (NGCSU) Military Scholarship Loan Program is a service cancelable loan program funded by the State of Georgia and administered by the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC). The program provides full scholarships to enable outstanding Georgia students interested in pursuing a military career to attend North Georgia College & State University, one of the nation's most prestigious senior military colleges. Recipients of the award agree to serve in the Georgia Army National Guard for eight years (four while enrolled at NGCSU and four after graduation).
The Georgia Military College State Service Scholarship Loan provides outstanding students who are interested in a military career with a full two-year scholarship loan program. Recipients of the award agree to serve in the Georgia National Guard for four years (two while enrolled at GMC and two after graduation).

Hawaii National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program
The HI Army NG "Pay for Credits Successfully Completed" program pays 100% of resident tuition for
qualified members attending any U of HI college or university. Applicable for spring and fall
semesters only. This program is for members in grades up to O-3 who are in good standing. May
be applied up to a bachelor’s degree including medical and law programs.

The State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) provides partial financial support to IDNG full-time
students attending a public or private institution within the state.

Illinois National Guard Grant Program
The National Guard Grant Program provides 100% college tuition at any IL state supported school
after one year in the IL NG. Applies to all ranks. May be used through Ph.D. level. The IL
Veterans Grant program pays eligible tuition and allowable fees. Benefits are limited to use
only at IL public colleges or community colleges. Certain restrictions apply.

State tuition programs pay up to 100% of tuition when attending state colleges or universities
for first associate's or bachelor's degree.

Iowa National Guard Educational Assistance Program
The NG Educational Assistance Program pays 100% not to exceed the cost of attendance at
an IA Regent (state university) or community college. Funds may be used at approved IA
private colleges and universities, but awards will not exceed 100% of the Regent
(state university) full-time rate.

Kansas National Guard Educational Assistance Program
The NG Educational Assistance Program pays up to 100% of tuition and fees based on
funding. Cannot be used for graduate or professional degrees. Must be enlisted KS
ARNG or ANG members and have less than 20 years total time in service. Additional
service obligation applies.

Kentucky National Guard State Tuition Award Program
The KYNG Tuition Award Program provides up to in-state rate for all public colleges and Community and Technical Colleges. There have been private institutions added to the program. However, there is a $6,480.00 a year cap per soldier attending those schools. Eligibility requirements include:
Having Basic Training completed, Be in good standing to include no APFT failure, height and weight, No unsatisfactory performances to include Adverse Actions. The program is intended for the first time Bachelor seeking students. As always based on the availability of funds.

Louisiana National Guard State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP)
State Tuition Exemption (STEP) allows soldiers who are active drilling members to receive a
waiver for tuition to all state funded schools in the state of LA for a period of 5 academic years
(20 quarters or 15 semesters) or the receipt of a degree. Enhanced STEP allows soldiers in a period
of a six year reenlistment to pursue a degree at the next higher level, up to the masters and professional
level. Participants can use the benefit for an additional four academic years (12 semesters/16 quarters)
or until receipt of degree at the masters or professional level.

Maine State Tuition Program
ME State Tuition Program offers up to 100% of tuition and fees at any ME based regionally
accredited public post-secondary institution based upon availability of funds. Accredited
private colleges/universities also qualify but are capped at the Univ of ME tuition rate.

Maryland National Guard State Tuition Assistance Waiver Program
State Tuition Wavier (STW) provides an "up front" waiver of up to 50% for tuition cost for members
of the MDARNG attending MD state colleges and universities. State Tuition Assistance (STA)
reimburses soldiers up to 50% of tuition and related fees after verification of grade of "C"
or better for undergraduate courses. Both programs may be used in conjunction with Federal
Tuition Assistance and the Montgomery GI Bill.

Massachusetts National Guard Educational Assistance Program
The Educational Assistance Program waives 100% of tuition cost for MA NG soldiers attending
a MA state college, university, or community college program that is funded through the MA
Board of Higher Education. As of July 1, 2006, fees will also be waived. May be used for
associate's, bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree or individual fulfillment programs,
provided the MA Board of Higher Education funds the course or program.

Michigan State Education Reimbursement and Tuition Grant Programs
50% reimbursement of tuition costs up to $2,000 per academic year at MI colleges,
universities, technical colleges and vocational/trade schools. May be used for
repayment of loans, textbooks and other expenses. Several MI universities and
colleges offer grants of up to 45% off tuition for MI NG members. Grants may be
used with other available tuition assistance programs and the Montgomery GI Bill.

Minnesota National Guard Tuition and Textbook Reimbursement Program
The National Guard Tuition and Textbook Reimbursement Program reimburses MN
Guardmembers (grades O5 and below) up to 100% of the tuition cost at any VA
approved school. The maximum benefit is 100% of the undergraduate per credit
rate at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus.

Mississippi State Educational Assistance Program
The MS State Educational Assistance Program pays tuition up to $250 per hour,
maximum $4,500 per year to state supported colleges for MSNG soldiers not authorized
FTA as funds are available. GPA of 2.0 minimum is required. Associate's and/or
bachelor's degree only. Out-of-state tuition is waived for non-MS resident members
of the MS NG attending a MS public college or university.

Missouri National Guard State Sponsored Education Assistance Program
For members of the MO NG w/o a bachelor's degree. Enlisted with less than 10 years military
service receive up to 100% of the semester hour cost charged a MO resident at the U of MO
for a maximum of 39 credit hours per state fiscal year. Those with more than 10 but less
than 17 years receive 50%. Officers w/o a bachelor's degree receive 100% of the semester
hour cost at the U of MO rate, regardless of years of service. Based on available funding.

Montana National Guard Scholarship Program
The MT NG Scholarship Program is for members of the MT NG with less than 16 years military service.
Eligible applicants may receive $75 per credit up to a maximum of $500 per semester. Can
only be used for attendance at a MT state institution of higher learning, undergraduate
degree granting program, two year vocational technical college or VA approved MT training
program. Based on available funding.

Nebraska National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program
The National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program is available to NE resident members
without a bachelor's degree. May use for 10 years from date of enlistment in the NE Army
or Air National Guard. Pays 75% of tuition at accredited, not for profit, NE institutions,
not to exceed the UNL rate. Available to enlisted members, and those officers without a BA.

Nevada National Guard State 100% Tuition Waiver Program
The NV NG State Tuition Waiver Program provides 100% tuition waiver at NV state colleges and
universities. No limit on number of credits taken or stipulations on degrees held. Does not
include medical, dental or law school. Spring and Fall semesters only. Available for
traditional classroom education only. Minimum 2.0 GPA is required. Textbook reimbursement
available to soldiers/students of University and Community College System of NV (UCCSN)
institutions.

Tuition costs are waived up to 100% after applying other federal benefits at state supported
postsecondary institution on space-available basis. NH NG scholarships are also available up

New Jersey National Guard Tuition Waiver Program (NJNGTWP)
The NJ NG Tuition Program provides tuition free enrollment to any eligible member of the NJ
NG at any NJ State public institution of higher education. Members may register for up to
15 credits per semester providing the member has completed Initial Active Duty Training.

New Mexico National Guard Tuition Scholarship Program
The NM NG Tuition Scholarship Program pays 100% per semester towards the cost of tuition only for
eligible NM NG members. GPA of 2.0 minimum is required. Applies to first post-secondary degree or
vocational training at any state supported institution. Not to exceed 150 semester hours while
participating in this program.

New York Recruitment Incentive and Retention Program
The Recruitment Incentive and Retention Program pays 100% of the cost of tuition only for
credit bearing courses at state institutions. Minimum part-time enrollment is required.
Members may receive no more than eight semesters of full-time study, four academic years,
or ten semesters if the program requires five years to complete. Members may not receive
more than 16 semesters of part-time study.

North Carolina National Guard Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
The NC NG Tuition Assistance Program provides assistance for tuition and required fees to qualified
members of the NC NG up to $4,515.02 per academic year. If tuition is less, difference paid may
be disbursed to the school to reimburse soldiers for required books and materials. The
educational assistance grant may only be applied to those institutions approved by the NC State
Approving Agency, and physically located in NC. Subject to the availability of funds.

Oklahoma National Guard Tuition Waiver Program
Waives the state resident tuition hourly rate at state supported two and four year colleges
for in-state residents; or for out-of-state residents the waiver can waive the non-resident
fees at state supported two and four year institutions, but the out-of-state resident will
still be responsible for paying resident tuition and fees. Applicable to minimum of three
credit hours and a maximum of 18 credit hours per semester. Must be an OK resident. Up to
a baccalaureate degree - one time only. Some state supported Technology and Career Centers
offer tuition waivers for Guardmembers.

Oregon National Guard Tuition Assistance Program
State Tuition Waiver Program waives tuition only at an OR public post secondary institution
of higher education for courses that meet your degree requirement. The program may also be
used toward private colleges within the state of OR, but only pays the tuition rate charged
by public colleges. Program is for members who do not have a baccalaureate degree. May be
combined with the Federal Tuition Assistance Program. Recipients must meet eligibility
requirements.

Pennsylvania National Guard Education Assistance Program
The PA NG Education Assistance Program provides 100% tuition funding for PA residents at a PA
SSHE school (12-17 credits for full-time students). Full-time 2007-2008 school year students
will receive $2,588 per semester with an annual cap of $5,176. Participating members must have
a six year obligation with the PA NG. Funding is presently available for all ranks. GRFD
scholarship recipients are also eligible. Part-time students (3 to 11 credits) without a
bachelors degree can receive 100% of the tuition up to $1,725 per semester; students possessing a
bachelors degree can receive 50% of the tuition up to $862 per semester.

Puerto Rico National Guard State Tuition Assistance Fund
Tuition assistance for Guardmembers provides educational benefits from bachelor to
doctorate degree. Various rates apply based on degree level and school attended.

Rhode Island National Guard State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP)
The State Tuition Assistance Program (STAP) is available to every member of the RI NG. STAP
authorizes up to five courses per semester at any state college or university with basic
tuition waived. STAP participants must have a minimum of one year commitment after the end
of each semester. One class per summer session also authorized tuition free, with minimum of
one year commitment after the end of each session. The cost of the books and fees are not included.

The SCNG College Assistance Program (CAP) will pay grants up to $4,500 per academic year towards a
student's cost of attendance at state public and independent schools with a cap of $18,000 per

Texas State Tuition Program
The State Tuition Reimbursement Program will reimburse the cost of tuition and fees for up to
12 hours per semester for up to 5 years. STRP will pay PUBLIC schools up to 100% of their in-state
rates for tuition and fees. STRP pays PRIVATE schools $170 per semester hour for undergraduate
tuition and $200 per semester hour for graduate tuition. Fees are paid at a rate of $100 per
semester hour for both undergraduate and graduate levels. This program can be used only for
spring and fall terms. Students must apply prior to the start of the term and be approved to
receive reimbursement.

Utah State Tuition Waiver Program
STAP pays 100% of tuition and fees up to $250 per semester hour – up to 15 credit hours per
semester. Max $4,500 per year. May be combined with MGIB and Kicker. Limited funding
available. State Tuition Waiver Program pays 100% of tuition. Can be used with FTA, but
cannot exceed 100% of tuition. Both programs are for eligible ARNG soldiers to be used at
UT State schools.

Vermont National Guard Scholarship Program
The NG Educational Assistance Program provides up to $5,000 scholarships to pay for tuition and
fees for courses taken at any VT college, university, or regional technical center. Award is
based on enrollment status and tuition rate for the VT state colleges for current year. 25% off
tuition at some selected VT colleges, check with state ESO for a list.

Virgin Islands State Benefits
The Virgin Islands offers 32 free credits at the University of Virgin Islands. Courses may be
taken in either undergraduate or graduate programs. Based on available funding.
Virginia National Guard Tuition Assistance (VNGSTAP)
The VA NG State Tuition Assistance Program (VNGSTAP) funds 100% of tuition costs remaining after
FTA benefits are applied, at any VA state supported school. Max VNG-STAP benefit is $6,000 per year,
or $2,000 maximum per semester (fall, spring, and summer). VA Guardmembers are also offered in-state
tuition rates as long as they are receiving State Tuition Assistance. Total tuition assistance for
private institutions may not exceed the above rates. Subject to availability of funds, VNGSTAP
recipients receive up to $350 per semester for textbooks. The VNGSTAP can be combined with the
GI Bill.

Washington National Guard Scholarship Program
WA NG Conditional Scholarship Program offers a loan forgiveness program for recipients who
complete contracted term of service in the WA NG. Priority for scholarships directed to NG
students who attend institutions in WA that are accredited by the Northwest Association of
Schools and Colleges.

West Virginia National Guard Educational Encouragement Program
The WV Educational Encouragement Program (WVEEP) provides up to 100% tuition assistance for
certificate, associate, bachelors, and masters level courses up to $6,000 per year for soldiers
attending in-state institutions. For students who have full scholarship under the Promise Scholars
Program, WVEEP will pay them the money that would have been paid to the school. The ARNG Federal
Tuition Assistance Program will pay for certificate, associate, bachelors, and masters level
courses up to $6,000 per year. The two programs may be used concurrently to cover up to $10,500
per year in tuition assistance.

Wisconsin National Guard Tuition Grant Program
The WI NG Tuition Grant Program applies to eligible enlisted members and warrant officers.
The benefit may be used towards eight semesters of college education. The program pays a
grant to soldiers of up to 100% of the actual tuition charged by a qualifying school
(based on the prevailing rate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison). The Grant may be used
at approved WI schools or schools approved under Minnesota-Wisconsin student reciprocity
agreement.

Wyoming State Tuition Program Program
The WY NG State Educational Assistance Program pays for 100% tuition and mandatory fees at
all state colleges and pays up to $1,030 per semester for programs offered at private schools
within WY that are VA approved. The program will pay for one degree for all eligible members.
In-state tuition rates are offered to all active members of the WY NG and their dependents.
Free tuition for ten semesters for Vietnam veterans, combat service veterans, and some surviving
