Family Support

The Army has an obligation to provide an environment that develops resilient Army families, connects families to the Army, and creates opportunities for family members to pursue employment and career opportunities.

NGB Family Programs
The NGB Family Programs website is a great resource for families throughout the deployment cycle. Find information and other resources on how to achieve and maintain family readiness throughout the deployment cycle, including valuable training to introduce you to military life and help you adjust to the military lifestyle. Key program services are intended to provide support services, education, and information to assist the Guardsman and family member population of the National Guard Community. Also find valuable information on the GFAP program, a grass roots process modeled after the Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) directing actions to improve Family Programs, benefits and entitlements for the National Guard Community. It is a standardized management tool which provides a means of monitoring the process of issue gathering, submission, disbursement, and resolution.

Soldier Family Life Consultants Program
Following the success of a pilot program in Europe, an Army initiative that provides informal support to Soldiers returning from deployments and their family members has begun in earnest. The “Soldier and Family Life Consultants Initiative” offers free, anonymous reunion and reintegration support to National Guard Soldiers and their families. “The support will be in the form of individual and group training, consultation and referral services, and will augment existing Army services,” said Jay Burcham, chief of Deployment Readiness for Family Programs at CFSC. “The reunion and reintegration period after an extended deployment is a critical time for a Soldier and families. The life consultants will provide the training and skills to make this period easier.”

Guard Family Team Building
The GFTB Program is designed for everyone: Service Members, Spouses, Parents, Children, Retirees, Civilian Employees, and interested Community Members. It helps the Guard "family" by teaching all aspects of life associated with the military, specifically the National Guard.
